Camera Hikvision Onvif

When it comes to adding ONVIF compliant cameras to a network, there may be some issues with certain devices. One such example is Hikvision cameras, which by default have their ONVIF function disabled. This article will guide you through the process of configuring your Hikvision camera to work seamlessly with DW Spectrum and VMAX IP Plus.

Enabling ONVIF on Hikvision Cameras

If you’re encountering problems adding a Hikvision camera, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the camera on the network using either the Hikvision discovery tools or ONVIF Device Manager (ODM).
  2. Open a web browser and enter the camera’s IP address into the address bar.
  3. Log in as an administrator using the default login credentials provided in the Hikvision camera’s User Manual.
  4. Navigate to “Configuration > Advanced Settings > Integration Protocol”.
  5. Enable the “Enable Open Network Video Interface” setting to activate the ONVIF function.
  6. Change the “Open Network Video Interface” security setting from “Digest” to “Digest&ws-username token”.
  7. Click the “Save” button to apply the changes.

If you’re using an older Hikvision camera, it’s recommended to also enable the “Enable Hikvision-CGI” setting.

[Optional] Create an Additional ONVIF Profile

In case the Hikvision camera doesn’t transmit an ONVIF signal after enabling the ONVIF integration, you can create an additional user profile within the camera. Here’s how:

  1. Click the “Add” button to create an ONVIF profile.
  2. Name the profile “onvif” and assign a password for authentication.
  3. Set the profile’s level as “Administrator”.
  4. Click the “OK” button to add the new ONVIF profile.
  5. The new ONVIF profile will be displayed in the User List.
  6. Click the “Save” button to apply the changes.

These login settings should match the Username and Password used when adding the camera to DW Spectrum or VMAX IP Plus.

Part 2 – Disable Illegal Login Lock

While not necessary, it’s helpful to disable the Hikvision camera’s Illegal Login Lock setting. This prevents the camera from auto-locking itself for 30 minutes when attempting to access it using default credentials. To disable this setting:

  1. Navigate to “Configuration > Security > Security Service”.
  2. Disable the Illegal Login Lock setting.

Part 3 – Synchronize Time Settings

To ensure proper authentication, you need to synchronize the camera’s time settings with the DW Spectrum Server computer’s time settings. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to “Configuration > System Settings > Time Settings”.
  2. Select “Manual Time Sync” and enable the “Sync. With computer time” setting.
  3. Click the “Save” button to apply the changes.

Part 4 – Adjust Security Authentication Settings (Digest Auth)

In some cases, you may need to change the security authentication method of the camera to use digest/basic authentication. Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to “Configuration > Security > Authentication”.
  2. Change the RTSP Authentication setting to “digest/basic”.
  3. Change the Web Authentication setting to “digest/basic”.
  4. Click the “Save” button to apply the changes.

That’s it! You’ve successfully enabled ONVIF on your Hikvision camera for use with DW Spectrum IPVMS. You can now use the ONVIF Device Manager (ODM) detection tool to confirm that the camera’s ONVIF output is detected.
